However, trait theories assume that people take after certain traits and qualities that make them to better leaders. Specifically, trait theories try to explain why some particular behavioral characteristics or personality is common among successful leaders. Traits like courage, extroversion, and self-confidence among others could potentially be linked to successful leaders. The challenge that still exists in defining characteristics of trait leadership is how we can identify/explain people who possess these characteristics considering that we have a large number of people who possess these characteristics yet these individuals have never attempted to seek for a position in leadership. Whereas there are individuals that lack this characteristic yet they have successfully made to leadership.
