Assessment helps educators to start planning for effective personalized instruction and curriculum for every child. It also helps parents to monitor their child’s progress, understand their strengths and weaknesses and plan how to help them overcome those challenges when at home. Assessment and observation are used to understand a child’s development and learning. The best part to begin with when teaching children is to first understand their interests and capabilities. We start to understand how children make meaning in their world through analysis and observation and this makes us understand what they know and can do. The purpose of observing young children is to know what each kid knows and capable of doing. Attentive assessment and observation provide the aptitudes, skills, and knowledge that children have and therefore, educators can know what is required to add support to their development and learning.
