Hello Carolyn Cheatham,I appreciate your candid discussion on civility at your work place. I agree with you that civility entails being respectful and polite. Therefore, an organization that promotes civility has a pool of employees that treat each other with respect and politeness without physical and verbal confrontations. As you have indicated, the major contributory factor of civility in the workplace is organizational culture. Employees behave or act in accordance to the culture in their organization (Clark, Olender, Cardoni, & Kenski, 2011). Thus if an organizational culture does not promote civility, it is difficult for employees to maintain civility. Hence, it is important for organizations to formulate, initiate, and implement culture that promotes civility. The score of 70 in your work place is considerably low and thus the organization must do more to promote a culture of teamwork, involvement, and shared goals to enhance civility.Regards!ReferenceClark, C.
