Community Diversity

Discussion 1: Community DiversityI live in community that is highly diverse and cosmopolitan. Within the community, there are people from different races, nationalities, ethnicities, and culture. These aspects have significantly helped inculcate the appreciation of diversity in my community. The increasing sensitization of diversity has made people the community more respectful of each other. Additional elements of diversity in my community includes religion, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation. While sexual orientation still elicits some debates, majority of the people have accepted the existence of the LGBTQ persons in the community. The appreciation and acceptance of diversity in the community is largely due to the numerous organizations that promote diversity. There are several organizations that promote and highlight issues that different diverse groups in the community face. Some of the prominent organizations include LGBTQ-based organizations and associations, socio-economic empowerment organizations, religious associations, and charity programs. These organizations help promote diversity by highlighting and publicizing issues that different groups in the society face. The publicizing of such issues have helped community to relate with each other more and appreciate the existence of differences.
