NAMRATA PATEL RE: Discussion - Week 4Although big data is beneficial to doctors, nurses and patients there are numerous challenges relating to the type of data collected and the intention of collecting data. Data collected in patients’electronic records is intended tobe usedlargely in management of medical cost, inventory, facilityadministration, and collaboration. Healthcare professionals are therefore confronted large complex data sets that contain diverse information. For big data to yield user specific information, it needs to be analyzed substantially to eliminate unnecessary information and add the context of the data. To overcome this challenge, collection of clinical data may need to be integrated with clinical care. For example, tablets at every bedside could be used to record patient information immediately for uploading to the HER as well as the different unique characteristic of the patient. Collection of context specific data can improve the quality of the millions of patient records collected and make it easier for big data to contribute to healthcare (Correa-de-Araujo, 2017).ReferencesCorrea-de-Araujo, R.
