Data Prevention LossData loss prevention (DLP) is a technology that companies use to prevent unauthorized use or loss of sensitive data (Carolin&Somasundaram, 2016). The technology also shields a company from data misuse by either employees or third party. Today, many organizations have embraced the use of DLP due to increase incidences of cyber security breach. According to Tariq and Mohammed (2017), DLP is a critical tool that enables a business firm to monitor and control its network endpoint activities. Additionally, the technology allows organizations to filter and data on its networks and in the cloud. Therefore, the use of DLP aids companies in protecting data whether they are on use, in motion, or at rest(Carolin & Somasundaram, 2016). Companies that use DLP tend to benefit in variety of ways. First, DLP helps protect personal information (Tariq and Mohammed, 2017). Presently, many company activities involves a lot of exchange in personal information. Transitions have evolved to involve non-cash payments. Therefore, since companies deal with huge amount of personal information, DLP helps in enhancing data privacy. Secondly, DLP enables business firms to protect its confidential information such as trade secrets and intellectual properties (Tariq and Mohammed, 2017). Information such as intellectual
