Dr. Karou Ishikawa was born in Tokyo in the year 1939. He made his graduation in Tokyo from the Tokyo University under Engineering Department with major in applied chemistry. In the year 1960, he successfully obtained his doctorate in engineering. The great scientist died in the year 1989. In his life span, he contributed his work in the Quality Control and for his work he achieved a number of awards. ACHIEVEMENTS The list of awards includes The Industrial standardization award, the Nihon Keizai Press Prize and Deming Prize for writing contribution in the field of writing control. For his contribution in the field of Quality Controls education programme, he was awarded by the American Society by Grant award in the year 1971. KEY IDEAS The main attention was given to the development of techniques based on technical statics which could be used in attaining quality at the industry levels. In his course of work, he gave more emphasis on the improvements in data presentation and collection and for this he emphasizes on using the Pareto Diagram and Cause and Effect Diagram also known as Fishbone or Ishikawa diagrams.
