Students and Mental HealthNameInstitutional affiliationIntroduction College and university education is a dream to many students. Therefore, most students are always exited when they transition from high school level to college or university(Cleary, Walter, & Jackson, 2011). However, some students are usually not aware of the demands and expectations that come with joining institutions of higher learning. Some even find the circumstances at the colleges and the university are contrary to their expectations (Cleary, Walter, & Jackson, 2011). When joining institutions of higher learning, many students expect to spend quality and enjoyable time studying in a positive environment. However, the reality is that majority find the advanced education quite overwhelming. Importantly, most students encounter numerous challenges which negatively impacts on their abilities to engage and succeed in their studies (Stallman, 2011). The interesting aspect about higher education is that students get to enjoy unconditional freedom. Contrary to the high school life where parents and teachers had some degree of control, at the university or college students experience the full freedom. They have to practice time management, manage their personal lives and their emotions.
