Review of Cultural Anthropology Journal ArticleThe article re-examines the concept of stranger as the converse of kin or friend in the context of modern online relations and their effect on the traditional boundaries between friends and stranger. The article builds on relations with stranger in contemporary social life. The thrust of the article is a proposition to develop a contemporary anthropological notion of stranger.The arrival of social media in Anshan town introduced complications that blurred the previously distinct relational categories of friends and strangers because of entanglement of stranger-ship with different kinds of other relations.
