Leadership and the Decision Making ProcessGreat leaders possess qualities that many managers do not have, for instance, the ability to organize, the drive to succeed, inspire, and bring out a shared vision in their employees (Bolman and Deal, 2017). However, the attributes of a great leader are not only limited to these qualities. Decision-making ability may be the ultimate defining trait of a charismatic spearhead. Managers need to be decisive and follow suitable decision-making models. A proper decision should be considerate of all the stakeholders involved (Pettigrew, 2014). A good leader should possess features that enhance decision-making such as self-assuredness, analytical skills to determine the merits and demerits of a decision, critical thinking to understand the impact of the decision and lastly, the ability to manage conflict that may arise from the decision (Kouzes, 2014).Looking at the decision-making techniques for both myself and the organization I work for, I must say that I have been quite successful in my process.
