Role of NGOs in Global GovernanceName:Institutional affiliationRole of NGOs in Global GovernanceIntroductionGlobal governance is one of the by-products of globalization. As the countries become increasingly interdependent, there arose a need for new norms to sustain the social, political and economic gains derived from globalization. These norms are also called good governance. Traditionally, governance was the role of the government. However, this is gradually giving way to ruling with the government, whereby the governed play an active role in making decisions that affect them. In some countries, the transition has not been smooth, with cases of dictatorship, extreme poverty, inequality, and the absence of freedom of press and interference in the electoral process. Non-governmental organizations play a crucial role in promoting global governance. Oxfam, an international NGO is active in promoting tackling inequality in Vietnam and promoting democracy in Myanmar. Principles of good governance Good governance is the process of making good and informed decisions (Ruggie, 2014). The first principle of good governance is accountability. The government has a duty to report the outcome of its decisions to the public for review. Second, the government must be transparent. Government projects
