Leading is guiding the followers towards a certain goal, while controlling is ensuring that everything is as planned. Various theories explain how managers should run organizations to accomplish their duties. Some of the theories include; scientific theory, human relation theory, administrative theory and system theory. However, no single theory provides an absolute solution to management problems. Management TheoriesScientific theoryScientific theory by Frederick Winslow Taylor is among the oldest theories of management. Taylor based his theory on four principles: scientific approach, job matching, performance measurement and delegation of duties. According to Taylor, an organization achieved optimum output, not by making employees to put extra effort but by making employees use less effort to do their work.
