ResponseHello, JessicaYour post put it very clearly that Hurston and Hughes were done with slavery past and focused on the future. The fact that Hughes and Hurston were on two different extremes made them slightly different concerning their views on the slave past. I like your post because you have critically looked at the three figures and pointed out their similarities and differences. For example, Garvey was deeply involved in the slave past because according to him it was the only way black people would appreciate their culture and seek prosperity for the future. It was great reading your post.Hi, MunozThe post is so coherent and highly organized. I like it when you observe that Hurston was from far right and Hughes from far left. However, despite their extremes, they had great respect for the black culture. They dedicated their careers to exposing the black culture and heritage to the world. Hurston and Hughes accepted the past and used the experience to show the potential of the black people. Garvey on the other hand, believed that true appreciation of black lied in digging into the past and using it to define culture.
