It is evident that suicide claims more life compared to homicides and wars combined in the world. For example, in the United States, the prevalence of suicide is rampant. Suicide in the United States is ranked as the 11th cause of death among other causes of death. It is estimated that one person dies by suicide every fifteen point two minutes in the United States. Additionally, one person attempts suicide in the United States every 38 seconds. Therefore, suicide is a very serious psychological condition that therapists need to take note in the society. Therefore, as a family therapist to the Banyan family, I would not take it lightly when Thomas walks out of a session (Firestone 2015).Therefore, in order just to be sure that Thomas, does not end up committing suicide, because he had once attempted suicide, while in high school, as a family therapist, I will run after him and talk him down and request him to come back to session or a private session with me alone.
