Instinctive behaviors such as anger and aggression are associated with fire setting. The famer might have caused the fire due to his instinctive actions (Dickens, Sugarman, Gannon, 2012). He faced financial difficulties and tried to maintain his dairy firm. The withdrawal of his government subsidy for corn production in the ethanol program added salt to injury. This is what might have prompted him into lighting the fire (Doley, n.d.). The dairy farmer may have placed the butane torch in the silo. He used this as a way to demand for compensation from his insurance organization. Numerous cases of butane torch explosions have been reported in the past. He would argue that the torch was placed there by unscrupulous persons who wanted his dairy farm to collapse. It would be difficult for the insurance company to deny him compensation as his neighbors also practice dairy farming. I think the fire explosion was caused by the dairy farmer. His actions may have been driven by anger after the withdrawal of government aid. His major source of income was cut off.
