They wanted to change their entire PBX system that was in place for their entire business, and make the switch to IP Telephony/VoIP. This was a way of potentially reducing equipment and infrastructure costs, and greatly increasing productivity. They started by completely converting their San Jose, California campus, which consisted of 20,000 employees and 55 buildings in a matter of only twelve months. This was the largest conversion in company history. Cisco figured that they could find a way to implement this new system and successfully complete this conversion, all while learning and developing more ideas for both IP Telephony and VoIP services. CISCO originated back in 1984, and since then has become and remains on the top of the networking and communications industry. Also, a former employer of mine, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Enterprise Car Sales, and EHI Holdings uses CISCO as their networking and communications provider.
