Capstone CheckpointKristina M SpencerHSM230March 24, 2011Katisha EverettCapstone CheckpointThe issue I decided to write about is the budget cuts that are coming to day rehabilitation programs for the developmentally disabled adults. If this budget cut goes through it could cause a number of issues such as lays offs for staff, a reduction in hours for individuals to attend programs which in turn decreases the amount of money that is paid to the agencies, and also can result in programs closing down and this population would have no other resources to get therapies they severely need. The major ethical dilemma I see with the budget cuts is that if they happen these individuals will not get the care they need. To me it appears the government has no idea what these programs do and how much they help this population. Without these services some of our clients would never be able to walk, talk, sign, toilet themselves etc. these are all things our programs help them learn. One of the ways we can respond to this issue is to write letters to the state legislature letting
