Business Ethics Case David Trejo January 18, 2010 BUS/415 Business Law Instructor Rob Tischer Business Ethics Case In 1984, The National Enquirer was involved in a case versus California Celebrity Shirley Jones (the Plaintiff). The Plaintiff alleges that The National Enquirer maliciously published an article against her, which caused defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress (The U.S. Supreme Court, 1984). The case, known as Calder v. Jones, brought about an important issue of personal jurisdiction, being that the defendants resided in the state of Florida and the case was filed in California.
