Week 2 CheckPoint: Conservation and Preservation. Conservation is when a person uses something and tries to conserve it by using the minimal amounts that are necessary. However in conservation you are still using the resource and can in fact be hurting the area that you are talking about. Preservation is when you try to save something, you don’t use any of the resources and you try to preserve it for years to come. Preservation I would think would be the best of the two because you are actually trying to save it. In my opinion I think that there are ways to harvest forest resources in an environmentally friendly way, when cutting down trees, they should plant more trees to replace the ones that they are taking. However I honestly myself feel that areas like Yellowstone National Park should be left alone. That should be kept as a federal wildlife preserve and shouldn’t be messed with. I’m more inclined to the fact that national forests should be left in their natural state and that the resources unless it’s something like berries, should not be used to benefit humans.
