Technological changes have caused unemployment in a vast number of fields. Automation generally means the use of machines to replace human labor in production. If this happens, all affected employees are considered jobless. Most of the jobs affected are the middle-pay kind of jobs. This is because automation has not been able to replace human labor in low pay jobs like cleaners or high skill jobs like managerial responsibilities. Most affected sectors include manufacturing industries, a lot of farm work, bank tellers, airline check-in agents, actuaries, and accountants. All these are better paying jobs that citizens are losing to machines. Technological upgrades benefit employer in number of ways it reduces cost of production, improvement in quality of products hence more profits, reduces risks associated with employee injuries in the line of duty, enables businesses to participate in the global markets, increases a firms competitive advantage, and reduces
