8-1 Milestone Five: Discussion DraftSouthern New Hampshire University PSY 520: Research Methods in Psych II 09:39:29 GMT -05:00DiscussionFindingsThe hypothesis presented for this study was that there would be a significant correlation between cognitive abilities and caffeine consumption. The research question that was chosen for my study is: Does caffeine affect human cognitive abilities? The predicted hypothesis is that caffeine influences an individual's cognitive capacity and ability to execute tasks more efficiently. The null hypothesis is that there is no difference in the effects of caffeine between individuals who have consumed it and those who have not.17 participants provided reliable responses for the entire survey for analysis to obtain results. The survey results presented a significant correlation between the two variables (caffeine consumption and cognitive abilities), thus accepting the hypothesis that was presented.Previous LiteratureThe outcomes of my research differed significantly from the majority of the literature examined on this subject. Most of the studies reviewed, although not all in agreement, suggested a beneficial relationship between the two factors. Previous studies have highlighted the impact of high caffeine consumption on individuals, primarily focusing on the physical consequences rather than the psychological and emotional aspects.
