Rape is having sexual intercourse with someone other than the spouse that is unwelcome whereas sexual assault is sexual contact or behavior that doesn’t necessarily involve penetration (Sexual Assault, n.d.). This article covers the sexual victimization data collected from adults’ correctional facilities through a survey. Sexual victimization is broken down in several categories: nonconsensual sexual acts, abusive sexual contact, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct. Additionally, these categories are broken down further explaining who the perpetrator is and who is the victim. For example, incidents can be inmate-on-inmate or staff-on- inmate. When the incidents are reported, an investigation gets started. At the conclusion of the investigation, the incident can be classified as substantiated which means the allegations were true, unsubstantiated which means there is not enough evidence to confirm or deny the allegations, and unfounded which means nothing happened. Any report classified underinvestigation means the administrator were not done
