I live in southern New Hampshire, so I tend to look for positions in Massachusetts since that is the bordering state. One position I found that I could apply to once I graduate with my master’s degree is a Co-Response Clinician working with the Behavioral Health Unit in the town of Tewksbury, MA. This position involves working directly with the police department of Tewksbury, MA. In this role, I will provide a variety of mental health services, such as: crisis intervention, risk assessments, provide resources of treatment to individuals with substance use disorder, and act as a liaison between the community and law enforcement. Another task of this role that really caught my interest was facilitating training to police personnel on mental health and trauma response.
