Collecting and storing data through CIS is fast, efficient, and a highly secure way compared to keeping paper records. Technology has advanced so greatly, that it reduces human errors greatly and provides a higher level of security than any other way to store data. Computer based systems are built to benefit healthcare providers, and all patients. The access is available24/7, providing non-restriction, and also able to be remotely accessed. Compared to paper records, the CIS is much more organized, with the ability to provide a “search†command through a series of information, whereas paper records you must read and find your own keywords to look for the information you are needing. Another advantage is improving overall patient care by allowing history information and all different information be at the center of a providers hands, and also passed along to other providers with a single button. This ability improves patient safety and can help diagnoses be found, as well as significantly important information like drugs,
