Things like getting up for school/work, brushing teeth, getting dressed, cleaning up, and completing tasks more independently than in previous years of life. This will continue to progress as the child ages into adulthood. A 10-year-old child is still reliant on parents but starting to develop some sense of independence but does not carry the responsibilities that a 21- year-old will have. There should be no worries about finances or sexual relationships at 10 but more concern over household chores, school, peer relationships, and always time for FUN. The21-year-old has been physically and emotionally developing for over twice as long as the 10- year-old and is typically capable of being self-sufficient. As the 10-year-old grows they will become more similar in the developmental aspect since the human brain is fully mature between adolescence and mid-twenties (Gloom, 2015).
