Acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may help reduce pain. Grade 2 and 3 sprains are associated with a significant amount of swelling and pain with weight-bearing and patients may benefit from immobilization and use of crutches initially followed by activity modification and physical therapy.
