Cognitive development: Music help children develop their cognitive skills, such as memory, attention and problem-solving by stimulating their brains and encouraging active listening and concentration. 2. Emotional development: Music provides children with a means of expressing themselves and their emotions helping them to understand and manage them as well as emphases with others. 3. Language development: Music exposes children to a variety of sounds, rhythm and lyrics which can help them develop their language skills including vocabulary, pronunciation and phonological awareness. 1.2 For each musical concept below design a simple activity to support Grade R learners understanding of the concept: Beat: Have the children march or clap along with simple drumbeat, encouraging them to feel the pulse and rhythm of the beat. Dynamics: Play a variety of musical pieces with different dynamic marking ( such as loud and soft, fast and slow) and ask the children to identify and mimic the changes in volume and tempo.
