Differences between smooth muscles and skeletal muscles {Ans: smooth muscle has a slower contraction speed than skeletal muscle. This difference is due to several factors. In smooth muscle, some of the Ca2+ required to initiate contractions enters the cell from the extracellular fluid and from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.
