It impedes healing, intensifies systemic inflammation, causes cardiovascular damage that can cause extensive damage to a persons vasculature, renal, and circulatory systems. Growing evidence is showing that being overweight in early childhood increases the risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. (Pulgaron & Dekamater, 2014) I propose the implementation of a sugar tax on beverages with little or no nutritional value. Some examples of a sugar-sweetened beverage could be a carbonated soft drink, non-alcoholic drink with additional sugar added, sports drinks, and sweetened teas or coffee beverages. There is strong evidence that implementing taxes on products will encourage consumers to purchase alternative products, produce increased monies that may be used to endorse healthier lifestyle choices, and loss of revenue will promote product reformation which will attract
