In society everyone is affected by crime in one way or another rather it be dealing with the effects of crime on society or with being an actual offender. The knowledge and understanding gained throughout this course on an abundance of major issues such as: crime and its cost, a community reacting to crime, or deterrence, incapacitation, retribution, and rehabilitation of an actual criminal all pertain to society and crime. Through application and experience of these major issues one will be able to use this information toward becoming a more valuable member of society. “White-collar crime is crime committed as part of one’s occupation” (Strader, 2002). It ranges from fraudulent repairs by auto repair shops to corruption in the high-finance industry to unsafe products and workplaces in some of our largest corporations.
