Urban Planning: Homelessness in Houston TXStudent’s NameDepartment, Institutional AffiliationCourse Code: Course NameInstructor’s NameDue DateUrban Planning: Homelessness in Houston TXHouston is the fourth most populous city in the United States, one that has continued to face a serious housing crisis leading to homelessness. In the last ten years, the city has moved at least 25,000 people into houses and apartments, but this is not enough to address the homelessness crisis that Huston faces. The city continues to team up with county agencies while persuading charitable nonprofits as well as corporates to support the housing-first program that has helped in housing a significant number of people. Beyond the housing-first approach, there is need for a system-wide approach to the issue of homelessness that will eliminate the bickering which exists between corporations, the state government, and charitable organizations. BackgroundHouston had one of the highest homelessness cases in 2011, whereas there were 8,400 people that did not enjoy stable housing. By 2020, however, the rate of homelessness had declined by 55% (Harrisson, 2022).
