Europeans had started arriving in North America in the early 1600s. However, their arrival posed a number of problems before the Native Americans. Some groups of the Native Americans even chose to exist together with the Europeans, assisted them and adapted to their lifestyle. Still, some groups which wished to remain traditional moved away. The arrival of Europeans also led to the decline of Native Americans. Some native tribes were wiped out due to the diseases the Europeans had brought with them and some were forced to abandon. A growing number of Europeans also forced the Native Americans to abandon the valleys and move to the Great Plains. European arrival in North America also brought a number of changes in the lifestyle of the Native Americans, even resulting in some of the tribes becoming nomadic. At some places European presence also brought positive changes like development in farming, formation of governments etc, but yet it also greatly reduced their living space.
