1 Incas: Creed , Cod e, Cultus, Community Creed. The Incas were polytheistic. They had many god s and god d esses. The main god was Viracocha, or Inti, the creator of Incas and the Sun God . Because of the relationship between the two word s - Inca and Inti - the Incas believed they were the child ren of the Sun. Other god s and god d esses honored by Incas were the Fire God , the Lightning God d ess, the Thund er God , the Fecund ity God d ess, and the Moon God d ess (Inca). The Inca people had great relationships with god s, and they put stone fortresses on the tops of the mountains to show how d ed icated the Incas were to the god s. Incas d eified animals, bird s and plants. Some of the sacred animals were a fox, a bear, a puma, a cond or, a d ove, a falcon, a snake, and a toad . The Inca religion was also about ancestor worshiping. Incas believed the spirits of d ead ancestors protected them. The d ead peoples bod ies and graves were sacred to Incas. The royalty
