1 Can One Be a Confucian and a Christian Simultaneously? Although no one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24), the id ea of ad opting qualities from d ifferent philosophies seems appealing. All religions are great. Every religion lead s its followers in spirit, behavior, mind and relationships. So, practicing two religions seems even more appealing, if it is possible. In some ways, Christians are alread y Confucians. Christianity teaches to love all people as yourself. Confucius taught that people love and respect each other. Both Jesus and Confucius told people to treat others as you would like to be treated. When it comes to God , Confucians and Christians beliefs are d ifferent. Christians believe in God who is only spiritual (unlike humans that are both spiritual and physical). To follow God , Christians have to leave this world and go to Heaven. In Confucianism, there are no god s as well as no afterlife. Confucians honor their ancestors. Therefore, in this aspect, it is not possible to be a Christian and a Confucian simultaneously as a person cant have God and not have him at the same time.
