7HW015 Proposal for an Integrative review of literature1.Title:Registered nurses recognising deteriorating patients. An integrative review?2.Background:In my current position I am a practitioner responsible for ward cover and part of the medical emergency response team. Over the years I have experienced coming across sick patients and following a conservation with the nurse looking after the patient and looking at vital sign monitoring , if any it became apparent that the nurse was unable to recognise the deterioration of the patient. This led to me wanting to conduct research to try to establish documented themes that have been identified as contributing to nurses being able to recognise the deteriorating patient. Clinical deterioration being defined by Padilla et al. (2018) as 'a key contributor to inpatient mortality' and discusses identification of deterioration and intervention 'plays a vital role'. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE, 2019) Clinical guideline [CG50] discusses acutely ill patients in hospital and offers guidance on identification and recognition of patients whose clinical condition is deteriorating and the need for appropriate action and escalation. Gluyas (2017, p.41) supports the view that nurses working in clinical settings have a “central role” in the early recognition of patients that are at risk
