The overall goal of civic education in Social Studies is to produce decent citizens. Social studies aids in educating the populace so they can actively participate in society. A healthier society, fewer violance, and a stronger economy are the outcomes. This is why social studies is crucial because it fosters a strong, fundamental interest in the nation. As a teacher, I think social studies is crucial for fostering in children the capacity to make thoughtful decisions that will make them good citizens. Three illustrations of Social Studies are Economics, Sociology, and Geography. Geography is the study of the Earth, its properties, and how people interact with their enviroments. Sociology is the study of human societies, social relationships, and the actions people take to maintain and transform communities. Economics is the study of resoure generation, distribution, and consumptions.
