Naturalistic Observations and Evaluations Sherry Liezl Crowe HUM215 Diversity and World Cultures Argosy University 09/27/2012 Naturalistic Observations and Evaluations The place that I have went to is the place that I used to work at which is Hy-Vee. It is grocery store that has a kitchen/dining room, Chinese take-out, a deli counter, bakery, meat department and a liquor store. Observation Notes Hy-Vee West 2400 4th Street SW Mason City, Iowa 09/20/2012, 900 a.m. I sat at a table in the dining room towards the front so that I can see everyone around me. There were about 25 people in the dining room at this time of the morning. Most were Caucasian with a couple of African Americans. Most of the customers were older (above the age of 50), not too many young customers or children. Since most of the customer base is older the way that most of them dressed was casual. Their probable occupation would be most likely retirement because of the age. The way that the dining room works from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for breakfast is that the customer goes to the pay station (register) first to order their food, so they talk to the cashier.
