The call began with Dr. Diana expressing gratitude for Sheila, who is my capstone preceptor, and opened the call to any questions, comments, or concerns. I led the call bydiscussing the topic for my project and why I chose it. Working in the neonatal intensive care unit for almost six years, quality improvement projects, and bedside care have allowed me to see many aspects of the NICU. From this experience and working in five different NICUs, I have seen many approaches to family-centered care and the lack thereof. Already having a relationship with my preceptor and previously working at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, I feel comfortable with finding policies, reviewing what is currently being done, and engaging with members of the team to explore changes that could be made. The goal is to improve education on developmental care andbetter integrate families in the neonatal ICU.
