QI in healthcare began in the 19 th century. At that time an obstetrician was the first to advocate for the significance of hand washing in a medical setting (Fesseha & Mathioudakis, 2018). Johns Hopkins Medicine QI for Diabetes uses the RADAR (results, approach, deploys assess and refine) matrix which is used to assess organizational performance (Fesseha & Mathioudakis, 2018). This QI also uses the PDSA Cycle, Six Sigma, and Lean Methodology (Fesseha & Mathioudakis, 2018).
