The concept of evolution is most notably linked with the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin and the Mendel’s take on evolution. The article authored by Denis Noble in 2015 takes a contrary perspective of neo-Darwinism, alternatively referred to as the Modern Synthesis of Darwin’s theory of evolution, mainly comprising of the concepts of gene, code, replicator, program, book of life, and vehicle (Noble, 7). In the article, the author has identified key problems associated with such representation, which limits the extension or replacement of the theory of Darwin and Neo-Darwinism (Noble, 7). Specifically, the author has made an attempt to help avoid these problems by adopting a more integrated systems approach towards evolution by presenting an alternative conceptual framework (Noble, 8). As such, the author integrates the Evo-devo theory with the modern Neo-Darwinism theory with Darwinism at its heart as a means of gaining comprehensive understanding of evolution (Noble, 8). The article directly relates to the course topics that consider the various theories of evolution to help students understand
