Kantian EthicsThe reading for this week focuses on Kantian Ethics or the imperative quality of morallaw in various facets. Two main points of Kantian Ethics discussed in detail in this reading areautonomy or the ability for one to control their fate and respect and individuals have towardanother . These values show the imperative nature of the theory and go into the creator s ownmain values. This new theory was derived from Immanuel Kant who was a German philosopher ,his two main points in Kantian Ethics were the unconditional value of goodwill and categoricalimperative or a need for reason applied to an individual s certain values like moral requirements.Kant groups these two main points as morally acceptable actions. Since his findings seem to beabstract in most ways, he details them to help anyone understand as well as apply his theory .The first main point discussed is good will. Kant believes good will to be the onlyelement that is certainly good without limitation. Kant thinks that any other known intrinsicvalue or values are only conditional good whereas, with good will, it is the only unconditionalgood in his eyes. This seems quite implausible to me. This theory shows how Kant believes ininstinctual goodness.
