The economic growth is steady; the workforce is capable with a significant population of the young and educated. The official languages are Swahili and English. Kenya has as estimated population of 48 million, 26.9% of the population living in the urban areas and a median age of 19 years (United Nations, 2017). The average population growth rate is 1 million per year, and the fertility rate is 4.4 children per woman (KDHS, 2015). About 80% of the land is semi-arid and arid, particularly in the eastern and northern regions (KDHS, 2015). Historically, Kenya’s disease burden has mostly focused on the communicable diseases. However, in the recent years, research has indicated that there a substantial increase in the non-communicable disease prevalence such as cardiovascular diseases and cancers which are mainly attributed to the change in the Kenyans’ lifestyles (MOH-Kenya, 2014). The average life expectancy in Kenya is 61 years, but it has been hampered by issues of relatively high under-five mortality rate and HIV/AIDS-related deaths. The primary cause of mortality in
