With the ultimate goal of any established healthcare system being to enhance quality care provision and patient satisfaction (exhibited by low morbidity and mortality rates), alignment of the nursing practice with the current new evidence remains acertain fundamental disposition. As acknowledged by Stevens (2013), the desire for evidence-based quality enhancement and healthcare transformation underlies the active redesigning of a care system that is both efficient and safe. Some of the significant underpinning functions supported by EBP include education and curricular readjustment and the scientific engagement of healthcare with emerging fields of research. Within this discussion, I provide a personal reflection on how my current comprehension of concepts within the DNP program can be linked to the core competencies of EBP in upholding an effective healthcare system.
