Cigarette smoking has been the cause of most lung cancer cases (Braun et al., 2017). The history of cigarettes dates back in 5000 BC; production and consumption expanded so quickly until the rise of scientific controversies and condemnation I the 1960s. Since the 1990s, there have been reactions by the smoking defense groups against legislation in countries with increased taxes. This paper outlines the potential alternative solution to the case. The alternatives are; smoking restrictions, restriction on youth access, legislative alternative, industry’s counter agreement, state suits for medical cost recovery, penalties, and e-cigarettes. Smoking restrictions This involves the restriction of smoking in specific public areas (Braun et al., 2017). The government can place restrictions on sites such as restaurants, workplaces, and public transportation. Making many sites smoke free reduces the rate of cigarette smoking as it regulates where an individual is allowed to do the smoking. Restriction on youth access This involves restricting access to the product. The government prohibits distributor, retailer, or manufacturer from granting access to cigarettes to persons under the age of
