The history of English languageBefore The English language had been appearing, it took about four hundred years before it started to be known as English .in fifth century it started to emerge when the Anglo Saxons appeared–they are Germanic tribes .they came from north Europe and the setters bringing a variety of Germanic dialects. Before the Anglo Saxons, there were Britons (Celts) which their local language was Celtic. The Celtic is similar to present day welch, Cornish and Breton. The archaeologist has suggested may have lived alongside the Anglo Saxons. We don’t know a lot of the linguistic situation in Anglo Saxons period because we do not have a lot of information in the way of written records from any of the Germanic dialects of north-western Europe until several centuries later. English language is currently the primary language of several countries.
