Make to tock (MTS) focuses on forecasting demand for a particular product, and making just enough products to meet this demand. On the contrary, make to Order (MTO) focuses on beginning the production process once a customer makes an order. The McDonalds new kitchen system was a big shift from MTS to MTO. With improved efficiency as a result of better equipment and improved technology, customers can make their orders on arrival and have their sandwiches made fresh, and with the ingredients of their choice ("PI2", 2016). This shift has led to greater among the McDonalds clients. There are both merits and demerits of this new approach to production. The most significant advantage is the preparation of products that meet the taste of the customers.
