Therefore, personnel can focus on performing their mission and their careers and rely on SELs to mind their relationship with the command.One of the potential reasons why military personnel may not fully leverage the contributions and input of SELs is lack of clarity as to the role of the SELs. SELs are assigned to each company to assist the company officer and make significant contributions to leadership development. However, SELs assume roles ranging from advisor to the second in command.
