African diasporas were communities in the United States which interacted with black people forming new cultures like Afro-Latin and Afro-Cuban (Vincent, 2017). I refute this ideology regarding the origin of the music because Jazz music was developed during the twentieth century through merging African and European music traditions. Furthermore, the emergence of Jazz music in New Orleans was due to the fusion of various forms of musical traditions from Europe and Africa. This contradicts the articles notion that Jazz is African diaspora music.Jazz borrows several musical elements from both Europe and African cultures.
