Nature Vs NurtureThe nature vs nurture debate in my opinion presents an example of concepts that embody the two opposing yet intertwined faces of a coin. While each of these faces can be addressed independently, neither one of them has their occurance and influence on development in exclusion of the other. Generally, whereas nature provides a glimpse to the varied genetic aspects that causes differences in ability, nurture provides understanding of how conditioning of such abilities drives their expression. In addition, while the environment is important in shaping development, the environment is only capable of shaping pre-existing conditions and seldom has the ability to impart these genetically designed and controlled attributes. On the other hand, while pre-wiring may convey certain attributes that could be considered advantageous, poor psychological conditioning may essentially result in their underutilization (Gladwell, 2013). Therefore, the nature vs nurture debate should not view each aspect as being mutually exclusive of the other, but rather as interactive aspects of human development. With regard to talent, it is important to examine both nature and nature and to highlight the effects of both, especially in reference to sports. While individuals may have innate capacity to express proficiency in certain
