The Electoral College takes into account the assigned value of the state rather than the actual votes cast. Thus when a candidates win, he or she will only get unique value rather than the number of votes that were cast (Cizmar). The intention of Electoral College was create equality and avoid areas with high population determining the precedence. The system has worked well over the years, but has recently gained a backlash especially after President Trump worn the elections (Cizmar). People feel that Electoral College has become undemocratic system that no longer serves the initial intention (Cizmar). The system discounts millions of votes which roughly translates that a single vote does not have a huge significance. Therefore, the Electoral College system should be discarded.When President Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential elections, his closes rival Hillary Clinton had 2.9 million votes more (Cizmar). Therefore, the system violates the principle of political equality where every man’s vote counts. When Hillary Clinton gathered 2.9 million more votes than Trump, she technically won the popular vote. However, the Electoral College did not take those votes into
